pleasantest thing.

how do you like to go up in a swing,
up in the air so blue?
oh, i do think it the pleasantest thing
ever a child can do!

Adoration

It seems so long ago my children looked at me with their little adoring eyes.  I miss that.

I wish...

for world peace, a strengthening economy,  an end to destructive diseases?  When asked, this is what she said, "I wish I could catch a butterfly and put it in a cage and look at it every day."  What a great use of a wish.

Lemon-Aid

When all else fails with toddlers, the back-up plan is a basket and some plastic fruit.

such a blessing, yet such a curse

I never really thought about how understated the human hands are, what power they have for good and evil.    The same instruments that can be used, both metaphorically and literally, to build up a home, can tear it down just as fast.  I consider this as I tickle my sweet grand daughter and she giggles with amusement and delight.

memories.

If flowers had personalities...

the hydrangea would be like a lion, confident, bold and strong willed.  It might have some delicate aspects, but as a whole it's nature states "look at me, I am the show".

gone fishin'.

End of another summer memory.

Traditions can be as plain and simple as ending a fun summer day with a bowl of vanilla ice cream and a scoop of sprinkles.  Even though the ice cream is gone, and gone with such velocity it was, the memory lingers still, bringing back smiles of satisfaction.

Waiting for the two minute whistle

I close my eyes and I go back to 19__, well a few years anyway. The weather is the same, hot and steamy. The sounds are the same, joyful screams of relief and delight. Even the smell of chlorine hasn't changed. Ahhh summer days at the city pool, cool memories.

full of blooms.

Building a life

Looking at this reminds me of all the choices in life I have made, and how each of them is stacked upon the other to make a structure I call my life.  Good or bad our choices are the building material that we use to create our residence of this life.

Happy day of our independence.

Even with all its imperfections and problems I still love this country and am proud to call it my earthly home.

a house of many colors.

White flower

The cars rush by, the people pass, life goes on.
But in the corner, down low to the ground, beauty waits to be noticed.
It whispers "look at me, I will make you smile".

annabelle hydrangea.

A crack this size...

is in the making for years.  It starts with one loose stone and over time just evolves, slowly, inadvertently with a serendipitous course.  So are certain crevices in my life, and as I reflect on what I want myself to look like while I'm walking this space, every crack just diminishes my reflection.
