just taking a rest

We go in so many directions sometimes that it just makes sense to stop, lean against a frog, and rest. Then we can keep on playing.

transitions

Transitions, the process of changing from condition to another.

Away go the oranges, yellows, the browns and the rust.  Escort in the reds the greens, the silver and gold.  Clean up the turkey the pumpkin pie and the candy corn.  Dish out the beef the cookies the candy canes.  I love it when transitions go from one good thing to another, it makes the change delightful.

a fun day with my grand girl.

waiting for their embellishments

Ready to be bedazzled with all kinds of sweets.  Funny, without all the adornment you can see just how imperfect they are.

Back when I was your age.

The other day, Emma was circling all her must haves in the plethora of Christmas toy catalogs that inundate us at this time of year.  She turned to the Barbie page(yuck) and there were a number of shiny, pink, plastic cars just waiting to be purchased to take barbie to the place of your choice.  I didn't say anything but I thought to myself, I remember when I had my first barbie and she drove to the place of my chioce in my dads shoe.  Yes his shoe, those were our Barbie cars back then.  What imagination we had, envisioning our action figures propelling down the avenue in a little red sports car or a big, brown sedan, and bonus was when the shoe came with a shoe box, bingo we had a garage.  Where does the imagination come in when you now plop the dolls into an already souped up pink, plastic corvette with a convertable top, lights that work and buttons and gizmos galore?  I'm just asking.  Ok so after a while Barbies legs started smelling a little funky, and my Dad yelled because he was missing his shoes, but we had fun and imagined.

Tied up

There are things that happen in life that tie up a course of action that we think best for ourselves.    When these occasions come to pass, I ask for peace until I can see that a new recourse is really what was best for me.  I am in that place now.

have a good day :)

fall clean-up.

Bird brains

I find birds and their conventions enthralling.  I think we could all take lessons from their habits and behavior.

This group, I think, is the party group.   I'm not all that sure I would hang with them, they seem a little too cliquish and flighty for me.  I'm more of a, couple of gals hangin out at the beach catching some great bird watching, and eating a few crabs followed by some juicy minnows, kind of chick.

peaches & cream.

Oh bother, another change in the weather.

Some people change as often as the weather, I'm not one of them.  Change makes me discombobulated when it strikes, but when all is said and done I am usually a little more knowledgeable or just a better person.  So why do I fight it when it appears and is inevitable?  I can't say really, I just do.

on fire

There is nothing better than to reflect and ponder while gazing at that big ball of fire sinking into the horizon.  My thoughts this night were of how sad it will be to say good bye to my dad and sister the next day but how happy I will be to go home to a house with power and a hubby and daughter that missed me.  Kind of a bitter sweet night.

winter tradition

It's the first snow of the year.

Every year during the first snowfall, I put on my "December" CD by George Winston to usher in the winter.  It is an event I have emulated faithfully since 1997, passed on from a long ago girlfriend Jenny Carol.   So on November 7, 2012 I say welcome winter, bring it on.
